CrossMark is a multi-publisher initiative of Cenicafé's ally CrossRef organization to provide readers with a standard way of locating the official version of a document. The Cenicafé Journal and Cenicafé publications recognize the importance of the integrity and completeness of the research products for researchers and libraries. Therefore it maximizes the importance of maintaining its electronic archive. By including the CrossMark icon within the publications, Cenicafé maintains the published content and alerts readers to possible changes whenever they occur. Clicking on the CrossMark icon will inform the reader about the current status of a particular document and may provide additional information about the document's status. Articles in Press (Articles in Press) will not have the CrossMark icon.
Cenicafé accepts six types of updates according to Crossmark standards. The definitions of these updates are:
- Addendum: Notification of additional information about an article. Addenda are published when the editors decide that additional information is crucial for the reader to understand a significant part of the published contribution.
- Erratum: Notification of an important error committed by the journal that affects the publication record or the scientific integrity of the article, or the reputation of the authors or the journal.
- Corrigendum: Notification of a material error made by the author(s) that affects the publication record or the scientific integrity of the article, or the reputation of the authors or the journal.
- Retraction: Notification of invalid results that affect the reliability of a previously published article. The original article is marked as retracted but remains available to readers, and the retraction statement notifying readers of the invalidity of the published article is linked bi-directionally to the original published document.
- Elimination. The article text is removed. The article's HTML and PDF pages are removed and replaced by a single page with citation details and an explanation.
- Correction: We consider issuing a correction when: A small part of a trusted publication reports faulty data or is misleading, especially if this results from an honest mistake. The list of authors or contributors is incorrect (for example, a deserving author has been omitted, or someone who does not meet the authorship criteria has been included).
